How to remove yourself from OptOutPrescreen

OptOutPrescreen is the credit bureaus' opt-out site for prescreened offers. One request covers Equifax, Experian, TransUnion and Innovis. Here's how to ask it to remove you, for free. You don't need Free My ID to do this.

What you'll need

Step by step

  1. Open the OptOutPrescreen page.

  2. Choose the 5-year opt-out and type your name, address and birth date.

  3. If it asks for a Social Security number, type it yourself. Only do this on the official OptOutPrescreen site.

  4. For a permanent opt-out, print, sign and mail the form it gives you.

Opens www.optoutprescreen.com, OptOutPrescreen's own website.

We haven't been able to check these steps against OptOutPrescreen's live page yet. Sites change their pages often, so if something looks different, follow what the page says.

Or let Free My ID do it

Free My ID opens OptOutPrescreen's removal page in your own browser, with these steps beside it and a Copy button for each box. On sites that allow it, it can fill the boxes in while you watch. You tick any "I'm not a robot" box yourself. Then it checks again later, because sites can list people again.
